Training for private detective

Being a detective is an exciting job, but very far from how it is portrayed in literature and television. A good detective has an objective to find and present proof of private facts, specifically those concentrated in economic, employment, commercial, financial and personal areas. In order to become a private detective it is necessary to take classes for three years at universities authorized by the Private Security Central Unit, under permission of the Ministry of the Interior. In today’s article we would like to give you the guidelines to become private detectives and join our team of private detectives in Madrid.

Where may you do the training for private detective in Madrid?

To become a private detective in Madrid, the Private Safety Central Unit recognizes five centers in our Spanish capital:

  • Centro Español de Nuevas Profesiones (New Professions Spanish Center) where the title is given under the Camilo José Cela University.
  • Avizor-Centro Superior de Formación (Avizor-Superior Center of Education).
  • Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Instituto de Criminología (Complutense University of Madrid. Criminology Institute).
  • Universidad Rey Juan Carlos I and Pro-Consulting.
  • Universidad San Pablo CEU Madrid.

What requisites must you follow?

Our profession is regulated by the 02/2014 Law of Private Security, and within it are these indispensable requirements necessary for becoming a private detective:

  • You must be Spanish, community European, or from a country with whom there is a mutual international agreement.
  • You must be of age.
  • You must not have any felonies.
  • You must not have been a police officer in the last two years, nor have been arrested and charged with crimes of sexual assault.
  • You must not have received serious charges in matters of private security.
  • You must have the abilities for patience and observation, emotional stability, good physical health and the ability to adapt.
  • You must have the required education.

At Monopol we encourage you to follow our profession, but remember it is necessary to continue education through seminars and special courses in order to stay updated on articles and techniques.
